How to Apply for US DV Lottery 2025 (US Green Card Lottery) // It’s that time of the year again and the US Diversity Visa Lottery application has been opened to all qualified countries and individuals who are ready to apply.
Registration for the US Green Card Visa Lottery program for the year 2025 commenced on Wednesday, October 5th, 2023, and runs until Tuesday, November 8th, 2023; a one-month application window.
What is the US DV Lottery 2025 Program?
The US DV Lottery 2024 program, also known as the US Green Card Visa Lottery program, is run by the US State Department. They make a lottery basis of up to 55,000 Green Cards available to nationalities of countries with a history of low rates of immigration to the United States.

Which Countries Are Qualified?
Countries that have more than 50,000 of their citizens migrated to the US over the last five years are excluded from participating in the program under the year of review.
For the 2024 fiscal year, 19 countries including the United Kingdom and their dependent territories are excluded from applying for the US DV Lottery 2025 Program (US Green Card Lottery). Below is the list of ineligible countries. Check it out to see if your country is qualified or not.

- South Korea,
- United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories,
- Venezuela, and
- Vietnam.
NB: You are not eligible to apply if your country is listed above.

US DV Lottery 2025 Eligible Countries
To participate in the US DV Lottery 2025, the entrant must be from an eligible country (not from any of the countries listed above). The applicant must also have either at least a high school education or two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience to perform.
How to Apply for US DV Lottery 2025 (US Green Card Lottery)
Registration for entry into the lottery is done exclusively online by submitting Form DS-5501 on the DV program website and is free of charge.
Registration starts on Wednesday, October 5, 2023, at 12 pm (ET) and ends on Tuesday, November 8, 2023, at 12 pm (ET).
If you are from Africa or your country is on GMT, refer to the following dates and times: Registration starts on Wednesday, October 5, 2023, at 4 am (GMT) and ends on Tuesday, November 8, 2023, at 4 pm (GMT).

Applicants who submit an entry will receive a confirmation number in their email. Only one entry per individual is permitted. Those who submit multiple entries will be disqualified.
Results will be available online on May 8, 2024. Winners will then be required to submit entries for US permanent residency, and undergo background checks and interviews before they can immigrate to the US as permanent residents.
The State Department reminds entrants that registration for the lottery is completely free of charge. The Department does not charge any fee, and any website, individual, or company claiming the Department charges a fee is trying to defraud entrants.
The only legitimate way to register for the US DV Lottery 2025 is via the official website of the DV Lottery website: https://dvprogram.state.gov.

Registration for the DV Lottery Program is absolutely free and doesn’t require you to pay money to anyone. It is recommended to fill out the form online (the only applicable way) than to fill forms on paper under some umbrella and pay money. Be careful not to fall for scams out there!
