Before the 2024 Election in Ghana this year, the NDC made many promises to the people of Ghana, and an acronym was born out of one of such promises, ORAL.
If this is your first time hearing about ORAL, you might wonder if this has anything to do with the buccal cavity (the mouth) or speech rather than written (verbal) but it is far from that.
Why is ORAL Trending?
All are currently trending because the NDC has won power and is putting in place measures to operationalize ORAL as soon as possible. A recent hint by ace Ghanaian-America freelance journalist, Kevin Taylor. He hinted about a plot by the outgoing government to illegally transport a bullion van full of gold to Dubai at the blindsight of Ghanaians. This van was intercepted by a group of NDC vigilantes and Ghanaians and indeed it was confirmed to actually contain gold bars ready for shipment.
What is ORAL?
ORAL is an anti-corruption initiative that tops John Mahama’s 120-day social contract agenda. Operation Recover All Loots by the NDC; in simple terms, an operation to recover all state funds misappropriated by the outgoing government in the name of contracts, recruitments, investments, or bad debt.
The ORAL Committee
At the moment, the ORAL team comprises a group of respected professionals with many years of experience in investigative journalism, auditing, and law enforcement. The members of this honorable team include:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
- Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor General
- COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired Police Commissioner
- Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
Members of the ORAL team have promised to work diligently with all their might and heart to fish out all who are culpable without expecting salary, per diems, or fuel coupons. This was a decision they came together to take at their first meeting which happened on Thursday, December 18th, at 2 pm.
None of our activities will come at a cost to the taxpayer.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of the ORAL team
Will the NDC’s ORAL live up to its expectations or it will just be another political rant to win the hearts of Ghana? Now that the ORAL Committee team has been unveiled, let’s all get involved to expose, shame, and jail anyone who looted state resources for personal gain in the past 8 years. Together we can help build the Ghana we all want.
